Accessibility Statement
This statement applies to caudaequina.info. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website, especially people living with the long-term effects of CES.
Last updated: 8 May 2026
Our commitment
We're working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at AA standard. We're not perfect yet, but we treat accessibility as part of doing the work properly — not an afterthought.
What we do
- Use semantic HTML so screen readers can understand the page
- Make sure the site can be navigated with a keyboard alone
- Choose colours with sufficient contrast against the background
- Add meaningful alt text to images that carry information
- Use a readable serif body font and generous line-height
- Make the layout responsive, so it works on phones, tablets and desktops
- Avoid auto-playing audio or video, and avoid flashing content
Known limitations
We know about the following issues and are working on them:
- Some medical diagrams sourced from published literature may not have full alternative descriptions yet.
- A small number of older PDF documents linked from the site may not be fully tagged for screen readers.

Enforcement
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the accessibility regulations. If you're not happy with how we respond to your complaint, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
